Cancel an insurance policy automatically

Learn how Automation Hero can help insurers automate the cancellation of a policy, saving agents hours of time.

two people looking at a computer screen to cancel their insurance policy

When an insurance policyholder wants to cancel their insurance policy, that message usually gets sent to an insurance company in two ways: via email, with content in the email body, or in an email with content attached as a PDF. Canceling the policy then requires another set of steps, which Automation Hero can help speed up using AI models.

Essentially, the platform uses AI to detect intent in the message, and then it performs a series of checks to verify that the sender’s identity matches what’s on the policy. This means using OCR to extract entities from the email or attachment — in particular, details like policy number, customer name, send date, and sender name. Is cancellation allowed by the date that the email was sent? If everything lines up, the platform sends a signal to the ticketing system inside the insurance company to accept the ticket, terminate the policy and close the case with a standard answer. However, the AI model can also detect when any of the above checks fail, and will then forward the inquiry to a sales agent, who will go through a traditional manual process for policy termination.

In this demo video, converting unstructured data to structured data, see how we developed an AI model that was trained on historical data to understand the layout of the documents, located text and extracted as image snippets and converted the image snippets into text.
